What this quote is trying to say is if your a good person you'll do great in life and this is kind of true because people with a bad personally would not be liked by many people but that doesn't mean you have to change it because you dont you to change for other people but back to the topic what this quote. What am trying to say here is that building up those things in your life that build up your character you will be helped to move on with life do better. If you look in to the quote other people will see other things what am saying is what i think this quote means but like i said other people will see this different then me. If you build up your mind you will think better then other people lets take Steve Job for example he opened his mind even if people told him he was crazy he made something that us people use everyday Iphones Ipods and all that. If you open up or build up your character your life could be full with lots or friends. If you build up your spiritual thing you will learn to love your self.
